COURSE CURRICULUM

This course in creative and journalistic writing offers a comprehensive three-year journey designed to develop skilled, adaptable storytellers. In the first year, students build foundational skills in research, critical thinking, and multimedia storytelling, while exploring the craft of writing across genres. Modules introduce key principles of authorship, ethical journalism, digital storytelling, and media landscapes. Creative exploration is encouraged through experimental writing practices and hands-on publishing projects. In the second year, students expand their skills through collaborative projects and real-world briefs. They delve deeper into non-fiction, explore creative forms such as magazine publishing and games writing, and can choose from optional modules in poetry, satire, screenwriting, fiction, radio, and theatre. They undertake a major self-directed project and explore the business side of writing, with opportunities for work experience and enterprise. The digital newsroom module simulates real-world media environments, emphasizing leadership and audience engagement. Students can specialize further with options including mini-documentary production, children’s literature, crime fiction, and speculative writing.
