The Interior Design degree offers a comprehensive and practice-led journey through the discipline, beginning in the first year with an introduction to key principles such as spatial awareness, design theory, and the psychology behind creating interior atmospheres. Students examine how spatial concepts influence user experience, learning to research, draw, and model spaces in response to client and user needs. Modules like Spatial Awareness, Design Principles, Taste, and You, Me, Us help develop foundational skills, focusing on the relationship between people and space, aesthetics, and socio-cultural factors. In the second year, the course deepens in complexity, allowing students to work on live briefs and industry collaborations. Emphasis is placed on future-focused design thinking and professional standards, including technical detailing and presentation. Modules such as Trend Forecasting, Future Living, Collaboration, and Fictional Interiors explore global trends, sustainability, and the integration of AR/VR technologies in interior storytelling. Students also begin to compete for internships and take part in study trips that broaden their industry understanding. In the final year, students are prepared for professional practice through advanced design planning, technical training, and self-directed projects. Modules like Design Insight, Innovation, Design Ambition, and Showcase support students in building an entrepreneurial mindset and creating an industry-ready graduate portfolio that reflects their personal design philosophy and creative direction.
