COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the Interior Architecture degree, students are introduced to the foundational principles of interior architecture and explore the social and psychological dimensions of space creation. Working collaboratively with Interior Design students, they investigate concepts such as place, place-making, and spatial experience. Modules like Spatial Awareness integrate movement and form through interdisciplinary engagement, while Design Principles introduce key aspects of interior decoration, branded environments, and spatial design from various user perspectives. The Poetry of Place module encourages sensitivity to location through adaptive reuse, and You, Me, Us explores how collective identity and human behaviour influence interior conditions.In the second year, students deepen their understanding of the political and ethical dimensions of interior architecture, particularly through adaptive reuse in relation to community needs and environmental responsibility. They examine inclusive design practices in Spatial Politics and explore heritage buildings and sustainability in Reinvention. Collaborative projects simulate real-world industry experience, building communication and problem-solving skills. The Fictional Interiors module introduces narrative-driven design and immersive technologies like AR and VR to explore imagined spatial environments.The final year focuses on independent practice, technical resolution, and professional readiness. Students articulate their personal design identity through modules like Design Ambitions and Design Insights, producing a critical report and developing an entrepreneurial mindset. In Materiality, they engage with sustainable materials and detailed design work, while Legible Spaces serves as the culmination of their academic journey, where they create a fully realised interior architecture project that demonstrates conceptual clarity and practical execution. This comprehensive program equips graduates with the creative, technical, and critical tools necessary to contribute meaningfully to the evolving field of interior architecture.
