COURSE CURRICULUM

The Game Animation course provides a comprehensive, industry-aligned education in game development and animation, progressing from foundational skills to advanced, professional-level practice. In the first year, students explore core aspects of game creation including asset production, animation principles, project management, and player engagement theories. Modules such as Development Foundations, Digital Creativity, and Game Animation 1 and 2 introduce essential tools, workflows, and team collaboration techniques, culminating in a playable character animation within a game engine. Students also engage in multidisciplinary teamwork and begin to build showreels showcasing their developing skills.In the second year, students delve deeper into game animation by participating in larger collaborative projects that mirror real-world game development. Modules like World Building: Pre-production and Production focus on concept development, character creation, and team-based production pipelines. Advanced animation techniques are developed through Game Animation 3, including facial rigging and motion capture, while Portfolio Development allows for creative freedom and the building of industry-ready portfolio pieces. Students also explore game design theory and player experience, enriching their understanding of user-centered game creation.In the final year, students produce a potentially publishable game project as part of a professional team pitch, receiving feedback from industry professionals. The curriculum expands into experience design and future-focused modules exploring digital culture, ethical production, and industry trends.
