COURSE CURRICULUM

The Fashion Photography degree is structured to develop students into innovative, industry-ready image makers through a progression of technical training, critical inquiry, and creative exploration. In the first year, students build a solid foundation in fashion photography, research methods, and ethical practice. They engage with key themes such as subcultures, inclusivity, and body politics through modules like Subcultures & Styles, Belonging, The Body & Ethics, and The Edit, which explore photographic representation, the ethics of fashion imagery, and editorial storytelling. Students also begin to establish industry networks through collaborative work with stylists and peers. In the second year, the focus shifts to more complex, conceptual work. Students explore alternative forms of image making in modules such as Fashion Film, The Commercial Image, and Fashion Image, which introduce new digital technologies and challenge traditional photographic boundaries. They also develop a deeper theoretical understanding of fashion photography and participate in collaborative industry-style projects to enhance their professional skills. The final year prepares students for the transition into the fashion industry. Through modules like The Client Brief, Investigations, Final Major Project, and Professional Futures, students refine their individual creative voices while working on real-world briefs with global clients and industry professionals. They undertake a substantial research project or dissertation and create a final body of work at a professional standard. By graduation, students are equipped with a diverse portfolio, critical awareness, and a strong understanding of the fashion photography landscape, ready to enter careers as contemporary visual storytellers.
