COURSE CURRICULUM

The Drawing degree offers a progressive and immersive experience, beginning in year one with the development of essential drawing skills, conceptual thinking, and critical research. Students explore the relationship between theory and practice through modules like Press Play and Practice in Context, engaging with contemporary and historical debates, socio-political themes, and environmental issues. They are introduced to academic research and writing, while also exploring various modes of artistic display and collaboration through exhibitions and peer engagement.In the second year, students deepen their personal artistic enquiry, focusing on technical skills and critical presentation of their work. Modules such as Sustained Personal Enquiry and Situating Practice help students investigate process, materiality, and contextual relevance. They also gain experience in public art platforms and collaborative exhibition planning through Testing Ground, which promotes experimentation, peer critique, and real-world application. Students build a professional portfolio and refine their ability to articulate their creative ideas and research through visual and written formats.The final year emphasizes individual artistic identity and professional readiness. Students engage in independent research projects through Practice as Research, choosing from practical, written, or art writing pathways. They explore entrepreneurial practices and audience engagement while preparing for public exhibitions and professional dissemination. The course culminates in the Realisation module, where students present their final work in a curated degree show, demonstrating innovation, clarity of vision, and readiness for the creative industry. Throughout, the program fosters a reflective and critical approach, encouraging originality, collaboration, and a clear understanding of the contemporary cultural landscape.
