COURSE CURRICULUM

Year 1: Compulsory modules include Introduction to the Greek World and Monuments and Memory in the Age of Augustus. Optional modules include up to two Beginners’ modules in Latin and/or Greek, Remembering Athens, The Craft of the Ancient Historian, and one module from another department. Year 2: Compulsory module is a Researching the Classics module. Optional modules include Greek and Latin language modules at appropriate level, Living in the Classical World, Ancient Epistolography, The Gods in Greek Literature, Interpreting Greek Tragedy Today, Traditions of Epic, Alexandria, Roman Dress, The Body in Classical Art, Ancient Science, and modules from other departments. Year 3: Compulsory dissertation. Optional modules include advanced Greek and Latin language, Comedy and Tragedy, Ancient and Modern, Roman Law and Latin Rights, The Weight of Words, Sing Me, O Goddess, Exploitation of Animals in Antiquity, Diocletian and Constantine, Greeks and the East, and modules from other departments.
