COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Global Health program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of health challenges from a global perspective, grounded in sustainability, equity, and interdisciplinary approaches. The course begins with Introduction to Global Health, which situates students within the broader framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), exploring diverse health systems, political and economic structures, and social determinants of health. This module lays the foundation for critical thinking around global health policy and practice. Building on this, Researching Global Health equips students with the tools to become effective researchers, covering both qualitative and quantitative research methods, mixed-methods design, evidence appraisal, and ethics. The module encourages students to critically evaluate methodologies and choose appropriate approaches for complex global health issues. In Leading Sustainable Change in Global Health, students focus on developing leadership and advocacy skills essential for promoting sustainable improvements in health outcomes. This includes self-awareness, cultural competence, community engagement, and change management, supported by theoretical models related to policy, lobbying, and health equity. Interventions in Global Health offers a deep dive into pressing global health concerns through case studies and problem-based learning. It encourages students to examine interdisciplinary and cross-cultural factors such as psychology, politics, sociology, and spirituality, fostering systems thinking and collaborative approaches to health interventions. Finally, the Global Health Dissertation represents the culmination of the program, offering students the opportunity to independently explore a global health topic of personal or professional interest. Whether empirical or theoretical, the dissertation allows students to apply their acquired knowledge and research skills under the guidance of a supervisor, while maintaining responsibility for managing their time and meeting project milestones. Overall, the course equips graduates with the critical, analytical, and practical skills necessary for advancing sustainable global health initiatives across various sectors and international contexts.
