The MA in Fashion Management is structured to provide a strategic, forward-thinking education that integrates key elements of global fashion operations, sustainability, business, and marketing, alongside practical industry engagement. Block 1: Global Fashion Management lays the foundation by guiding students through the fashion product lifecycle, from concept to delivery, while embedding critical concepts like sourcing strategies, customer analysis, and critical path management. The module combines theory with hands-on experience and live industry research, preparing students to manage product development efficiently and responsibly, aligned with global industry trends and commercial standards. Block 2: Research Methods with Cultural Context introduces students to advanced research techniques tailored to the fashion and design industry. Alongside this, the module explores cultural theories such as material culture and semiotics to help students critically examine how products relate to identity, status, and diversity. These insights allow students to embed deeper cultural relevance into their research and future projects. In Block 3: Sustainability Strategy and Design, students explore the complex and urgent challenges facing the industry through the lens of sustainable practice. Topics include corporate sustainability, ethical supply chains, circular economy, and lifecycle analysis. The module is ideal for those pursuing careers in retail, manufacturing, or design management, equipping them to become ethical leaders and change-makers in fashion. Block 4: Business and Marketing Strategies helps students understand how to successfully bring a creative concept to market. The module focuses on building solid business strategies through marketing, financial planning, and competitive analysis. Using tools like PESTEL and blue ocean strategy, students create a market analysis and a professional-standard business plan. Finally, Blocks 5 and 6 allow students to choose between a Work-based Project or a Dissertation. The Work-based Project connects academic learning with industry practice by engaging in real-world product development, while the Dissertation provides the opportunity to conduct independent, in-depth research into a chosen area, showcasing critical thinking and professional execution.
