COURSE CURRICULUM

The Accounting and Finance MSc program is structured into six learning blocks that cover core areas essential for professionals aiming to succeed in the financial sector. In Block 1, Financial Accounting and Policy introduces students to financial reporting in both public and private sectors using international standards like IFRS and IPSAS. The module explores current developments, including issues of sustainability, tax policy, and transparency, supported by international case studies. Block 2, Corporate Financing and Governance, focuses on the broader financial environment by examining financial theories such as the Efficient Market Hypothesis and CAPM. Students apply corporate finance tools to evaluate real-world cases and consider the implications of governance decisions under evolving market and regulatory conditions. Block 3, Financial Decision Management, prepares students to integrate financial decision-making with strategic planning. It focuses on managing financial, ethical, social, and environmental objectives, and equips students to navigate dynamic competitive environments using performance evaluation and risk management tools. Block 4, International Trading and Investments, bridges finance theory with practice by simulating real-world investment decision-making. Students manage a portfolio, respond to macroeconomic and company-specific events, and assess their strategies through reports and presentations, replicating a trading floor environment. Blocks 5 and 6 offer two distinct project-based options. In the Business Research Project, students explore qualitative and mixed research methods, focusing on design, ethics, and methodology applicable to business contexts such as case studies and cross-sectional analysis. Alternatively, the Data Analysis Project provides training in quantitative methods for business research, with applications in comparative, cross-sectional, and longitudinal studies. Both options emphasize ethical considerations and critical thinking, allowing students to pursue interests aligned with their career goals or academic development. Together, these modules offer a comprehensive grounding in accounting, finance, strategy, research, and investment management, tailored for a global financial environment.
