COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Human Resource Management consists of a range of comprehensive modules aimed at equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in HR and management. Block 1, People Management: Leadership, Development, and Analytics, explores key themes such as leadership challenges, organisational behaviour, and the complexities of organisational change. Students will critically assess leadership styles and their impact on organisational culture, while also examining the role of data analytics in strategic HR development. Block 2, Managing Employment Relations in a Legal Context, focuses on how legislation affects employment contracts and the power dynamics between employers and workers. It covers the role of legal regulation within HRM and its impact on organisational practices, particularly in the context of employment tribunals and legal claims. Block 3, Sustainable Human Resource Management in the Contemporary and Global Context, provides an in-depth overview of HRM practices with a focus on global and environmental factors that influence HR strategies. It addresses contemporary issues like ethics, employee well-being, and diversity, preparing students to offer advice on HR policies in a globalised context. Block 4, Employee Resourcing in the Changing World of Work, introduces the complexities of HRM in the 21st century, focusing on employee resourcing practices, including recruitment, retention, and exit strategies. It also covers issues of equality, diversity, and inclusion in HR practices. Block 5 & 6, Research Dissertation in Human Resource Management, guides students through independent research in HR, culminating in a dissertation. This module enhances students’ research and analytical skills, enabling them to apply theory to real-world organisational issues and make evidence-based recommendations. Students will complete assessments including a dissertation proposal and a final dissertation, supported by a research supervisor.
