COURSE CURRICULUM

The course in Education offers a comprehensive approach to research and professional development, culminating in a major project or dissertation. The Researching Education module (30 credits) introduces various research methodologies and their application, helping students design an informed research proposal for their dissertation. The Major Project/Dissertation (60 credits) gives students the opportunity to engage in a research project that aligns with their personal interests and professional experience, often involving a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) event with their employer. Students can select from a range of optional modules, each worth 30 credits, to further specialize their knowledge. The Current and Emergent Issues in Education Policy module delves into the latest education policies, encouraging students to critically examine how these policies are linked with practice in their own educational setting. Technology Enhanced Practice explores the potential and challenges of incorporating new technologies into education, such as virtual learning environments, social media, and e-safety. This module evaluates how such technologies can be used effectively and anticipates future educational possibilities. The Negotiated Study module allows students to independently explore topics directly relevant to their professional context, fostering personal growth and insight into their role within education. Lastly, the Leading and Managing Educational Change module encourages students to critically engage with research on educational leadership and change management, allowing them to apply their understanding of these concepts to their workplace and reflect on their leadership potential.
