COURSE CURRICULUM

This design course is structured into themed blocks that balance creative exploration, research, business knowledge, and professional practice. In Block 1, Creative Design Research Studio introduces students to multidisciplinary design research, project planning, and sustainability issues, covering topics such as circular economy, lifecycle analysis, and corporate social responsibility. Block 2, Research Methods and Cultural Context, develops advanced research and critical analysis skills, while exploring material culture theory and how design relates to identity, culture, and society. In Block 3, students specialise by choosing from modules such as Sustainability Strategy and Design, Narrative Spaces, UX and UI, or Technology for Design, allowing them to focus on areas from sustainable innovation to spatial storytelling or emerging digital technologies. Block 4 offers a choice between Business and Marketing Strategies, which develops entrepreneurial and strategic planning skills, and Design Problem Solving, which encourages innovative thinking across disciplines. Finally, Blocks 5 and 6 provide three culminating options: a Dissertation, a Design Innovation project, or a Work-based Project with industry partners. These final modules allow students to apply their skills in research, practice, or real-world contexts, ensuring they graduate with advanced creative, technical, and professional expertise suited to diverse career pathways.
