COURSE CURRICULUM

The Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Science program is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of both industries, blending theoretical knowledge with practical skills across three years of study. In the first year, students are introduced to key concepts in pharmaceutical and cosmetic science, including essential laboratory skills, analytical techniques, and the physiology of body parts related to cosmetic products. Modules such as Core Concepts in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Core Concepts in Cosmetic Sciences lay the foundation for understanding chemistry and product development. Students also gain insights into cell biology and microbiology in relation to the science of drugs and cosmetics.The second year builds upon the knowledge gained in the first year, focusing on the design, formulation, and manufacture of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. Students learn about pharmaceutical formulations, cosmetic formulations, and the manufacture of pharmaceutical products, gaining practical experience in laboratory sessions. The module Pharmaceutical Formulation helps students develop the skills to create various dosage forms, while the Cosmetic Formulation module focuses on formulating personal care products. This year also emphasizes the technical aspects of cosmetic product design and evaluation.In the final year, students delve into specialized topics such as drug design, biopharmaceuticals, and personalized medicine, with a strong emphasis on responsible innovation and social responsibility in the industry. Modules like Drug Design and Biopharmaceuticals explore computer-aided drug design and the use of biological molecules for therapy, while Personalised Medicine and Drug Delivery address the challenges of pharmaceutical formulation and delivery. Students also complete a research project, allowing them to apply their knowledge in a practical, independent research setting. Throughout the program, professional development modules help students prepare for their careers, with a focus on continuous personal growth, self-reflection, and readiness for the workforce upon graduation.
