COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics program is designed to equip students with the analytical, quantitative, and applied skills necessary to understand and influence the modern economy. In the first year, students build a strong foundation with modules like Applied Microeconomics and Applied Macroeconomics, exploring individual decision-making and national economic policies. Alongside this, students develop essential quantitative skills through Maths and Statistics for Economics and Finance, and learn practical tools in Data Management and Visualisation. In year two, the curriculum advances to Microeconomics and Game Theory, and Econometrics and Data Analytics, where students begin programming economic problems and conducting empirical analysis—skills essential for later research. The second half of the year examines financial systems in Global Financial Markets and Institutions and the real-world relevance of economic policy through Contemporary Macroeconomics. In the final year, students tailor their path by choosing between modules in either advanced microeconomic or macroeconomic theory, followed by a choice between Industrial Economics or Behavioural Economics and Finance, depending on interest in traditional market structure or psychological approaches to economic decision-making. Block 3 provides further specialisation, with Digital Economics and Artificial Intelligence exploring the tech-driven economy, or Global Trade and Development Economics addressing international trade and environmental concerns. The program culminates in a substantial Applied Economics Dissertation where students conduct independent research, applying econometric tools or modelling methods to real-world economic problems. This comprehensive structure combines theoretical depth with applied skill development, preparing graduates for careers in economic consultancy, finance, policy, or postgraduate study.
