COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Information Systems course is structured over three years, offering a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills to prepare students for professional careers in the field. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in computing through modules such as Foundations of Computing, Programming in Python, Data Analytics and Statistics, and Information Systems Analysis and Database Design. These modules provide essential technical knowledge and analytical skills, laying the groundwork for more advanced study. In the second year, students deepen their understanding of IT management and business applications with modules including Social Computing and Data Analytics for Business, Fundamentals of IT Management, Information and Database Development, Introduction to Information Security, and an Integrated Project, which allows students to apply their skills to real-world problems. The third year focuses on practical application and independent study, with modules such as Practical System Thinking and Business Systems Solutions, alongside options that allow students to specialise according to their interests. The course culminates in a Final Year Project, enabling students to undertake an in-depth investigation into a chosen area of information systems, consolidating their learning and demonstrating their analytical, technical, and problem-solving abilities. Overall, the program equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary for careers in information systems, IT consultancy, data analysis, security, and business systems management, as well as opportunities for further study.
