COURSE CURRICULUM

The Architectural Technology course is structured over three years to progressively develop students’ knowledge, skills, and professional expertise. In the first year, students focus on the fundamentals, including sustainable building principles, architectural communication and detailing, building technology, and practical application through a building project. This foundation equips students with the essential understanding of construction processes, materials, and environmental considerations. The second year builds on this knowledge, introducing project management practices, advanced architectural communication and detailing, and more complex building technology and project work. These modules integrate technical learning with real-world application, enabling students to tackle design and construction challenges while developing critical problem-solving and collaborative skills. In the final year, students engage with professional and technical aspects of the field, covering contract law, procurement, and advanced Building Information Modelling (BIM) to prepare for industry practice. The curriculum culminates with an integrated project and dissertation, allowing students to demonstrate independent research, design innovation, and technical expertise. Across all three years, the course combines theory, practical application, and industry-standard tools to ensure graduates are well-prepared for careers in architectural technology, construction, and sustainable building design, providing a comprehensive pathway from foundational principles to advanced professional competence.
