COURSE CURRICULUM
The BEng Mechanical Engineering program is structured across three years, with a combination of core and specialized modules. Year 1 introduces fundamental engineering tools and principles, including mathematics, mechanical principles (solid mechanics), electronics, and engineering design. Block 1 focuses on mathematical techniques and introduces the use of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools. Students gain practical skills in microcontroller interfacing and circuit design, which are essential for modern engineering applications. Block 2 delves into dynamic systems and the theory behind control systems, teaching students how to design and analyze feedback systems using software like MATLAB/Simulink. Blocks 3 and 4 cover project management skills and the integration of design with engineering principles. These modules teach students to approach complex projects methodically, covering topics like sustainability, ethics, and industrial needs.In the final year, students choose from specialized modules such as Advanced Embedded Systems, Power Electronics, Renewable Energy, or 3D Printing. These options allow students to explore cutting-edge technologies while also engaging in individual projects that require research, development, and practical application of learned principles. Modules like Robotics and Electrical Transmission and Distribution expand students’ expertise in robotics, control systems, and power systems. The program culminates in project-based modules that integrate knowledge from previous years into real-world engineering solutions.
