COURSE CURRICULUM

The program is structured across three years, guiding students through a progressive journey from foundational understanding to advanced professional practice in interior design. In Year 1, students develop a core understanding of space through a sequence of blocks that focus on understanding, exploring, and defining space. These modules introduce key principles of spatial awareness, design thinking, materials, and user experience, helping students build essential creative and technical skills. Year 2 shifts towards concept-driven and professional-focused learning. Students begin with ideation and concept development, progressing to design development where ideas are refined into coherent design proposals. Professional design communication strengthens visual, digital, and verbal presentation skills, while professional design practice introduces industry expectations, workflows, and collaborative approaches. In Year 3, learning becomes more advanced and independent, with a strong emphasis on research-led and conceptually rigorous design. Students undertake advanced research for interior design, followed by advanced conceptualisation that challenges them to develop innovative and critically informed design ideas. Advanced design development and communication further refine technical resolution and professional presentation, while advanced professional design practice prepares students for industry or postgraduate study. Together, the structure supports the development of confident, reflective, and industry-ready interior designers.
