COURSE CURRICULUM

Over the three years of study, this graphic design course progressively develops students' creative thinking, problem-solving abilities, and technical design skills. In Year 1, students begin by cultivating ideation and visual communication skills through exploration of fundamental design principles, semiotics, and reflective thinking. They are introduced to core graphic design concepts, learning to communicate ideas effectively while building a foundation in both practical and theoretical aspects of design. Across four modules, they experiment with design briefs, develop curiosity, and apply critical judgement to create meaningful visual outcomes. Year 2 builds on this foundation, focusing on refining the design process and communication strategies. Students further explore semiotics, develop stronger personal insight, and start identifying their creative strengths. They apply their growing expertise to more complex briefs and begin shaping their personal design identity through portfolio development. Practical and theoretical learning continues alongside a deeper emphasis on self-evaluation and direction-setting. In the final year, the emphasis shifts to independent and professional practice. Students work on self-directed projects, refining their ideation and design approach to a professional level. Under tutor guidance, they engage with live briefs, develop industry-ready portfolios, and prepare self-promotional materials to enter the creative job market. The course encourages experimentation and individuality, guiding students to define and articulate their unique creative pathways. Professional modules equip students with the knowledge of industry expectations and client relationships, preparing them for careers in graphic design or design entrepreneurship. Through a blend of studio work, tutorials, self-directed study, and assessments, the program ensures a well-rounded, practice-led education that supports both personal and professional growth in graphic design.
