COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of this fashion program, students will gain a foundational understanding of fashion marketing, design, and sustainable practices. The Fashion Consumer and Marketplace module introduces key marketing principles such as segmentation, targeting, and positioning, enabling students to understand consumer behavior and how to identify target audiences. In the Design and Development module, students will explore creative influences, trend-led design, and practical skills such as pattern cutting and construction. The Fashion Lifecycle module focuses on the buying process, from trend prediction to product development and sales analysis, with the use of Adobe Creative Suite to build digital portfolios. The Sustainable Futures module encourages students to reflect on their role in the fashion industry, exploring sustainability, ethical practices, and research methodologies to promote professional growth.In the second year, students deepen their understanding of fashion buying, sustainable design, and professional practice. The Buying and Professional Practice module examines the buying process in fashion, including product development and critical path management. In the Design Innovation and Sustainable Futures module, students learn about sustainable design principles and the circular economy, analyzing how sustainability impacts the fashion industry. The Fashion Buying Professional Practice module equips students with knowledge of buying processes, supplier management, and international logistics. Fashion Design Practice focuses on creating fashion ranges for specific retailers, developing skills in CAD, garment construction, and design concepts for brand licensing.In the final year, students focus on industry collaboration and major projects. The Sustainable Sourcing and Supply Management module delves into sourcing strategies, global supply chain issues, and sustainability in textile sourcing. The Collaboration with Industry module challenges students to develop portfolios and engage in industry-led product development and merchandising projects. For the Major Design Project, students apply skills gained throughout the program to create a comprehensive design and buying project, focusing on product development and range building. Alternatively, the Major Research Project allows students to conduct independent research, with options including a dissertation, entrepreneurial project, or work-based improvement project.
