COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Aerospace Manufacturing is structured with a blend of compulsory and elective modules designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge and hands-on skills needed in the aerospace manufacturing sector. Core modules include Operations Management, which explores flow in operations, manufacturing layouts, capacity planning, quality management, and lean systems. Manufacturing Systems Engineering teaches students to model and redesign complex manufacturing systems using simulation techniques. The Sustainable Aerospace Manufacturing Business module focuses on design requirements, regulations, materials, and sustainable and digital manufacturing tools. Supply Chain Management addresses strategic issues, supplier selection, planning, and digital technologies like AI in Supply Chain 4.0. Aircraft Assembly provides practical knowledge of joining techniques, metrology, automation, and certification processes. Students must also choose three elective modules from a diverse list. Options include Additive and Subtractive Manufacturing Technologies, focusing on advanced machining and fabrication techniques; Composites Manufacturing for High Performance Structures, which covers composite materials and processes for aerospace and related sectors; and Failure of Engineered Assets, examining material and structural failure mechanisms and analysis methods. Additional electives include Manufacturing Strategy, emphasizing strategic planning and competitive advantage in manufacturing systems; Metal Additive Manufacturing Processes, introducing techniques like selective laser melting and wire arc AM; Operations Analysis, which applies Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, and systems modeling; and Welding Processes and Equipment, although details for the latter are not listed. Collectively, the program enables students to understand manufacturing flow, assess and optimize production systems, integrate sustainability and digital tools, and design advanced manufacturing strategies. Graduates are equipped to lead technological innovation, manage complex production environments, and drive performance improvements in the aerospace manufacturing industry. This well-rounded structure ensures students gain both theoretical insight and practical expertise to address real-world challenges in aerospace manufacturing.
