COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Transport Systems focuses on equipping students with the skills to address the evolving challenges of sustainable and integrated transport. The course is structured to provide both theoretical foundations and practical experience in transport systems, ensuring students are prepared for leadership roles in the industry. In the first semester, you will explore integrated transport systems, critically analysing sustainability challenges and learning about emerging technologies like autonomous vehicles and smart cities. The module on sustainable transport planning and design further develops these skills by focusing on creating environmentally friendly and socially inclusive transport systems, with an emphasis on land use and transport planning.The course also covers essential topics like safety and security in transportation, where you'll examine regulatory frameworks, emerging technologies, and biosecurity. You’ll be introduced to advanced risk management strategies, including the role of artificial intelligence in transport safety. The strategic transport management and leadership module equips you with the necessary leadership and management skills to lead transport businesses, focusing on strategic decision-making and change management in the context of global transport challenges.You will also develop research skills through the Transport Research Methods module, which prepares you to conduct rigorous studies in transport, providing a foundation for the Transport Dissertation. This final module is an opportunity to apply your knowledge creatively, conducting research that addresses complex transport problems and contributes to the development of sustainable solutions within the transport industry. By completing this course, you’ll be equipped to lead and innovate in the rapidly changing world of transportation.
