COURSE CURRICULUM

This postgraduate course in project management is designed to develop the knowledge and skills needed to lead and deliver strategic change in diverse business environments. The first module, Project Management Organisation and Culture, focuses on how to effectively manage projects by understanding organisational structures, culture, teamwork, stakeholder management and communication. Students gain insight into how these elements influence project outcomes and how they can apply this knowledge in real-world settings. Following this, the Project Management Methodologies and Governance Frameworks module introduces students to various methodologies including Agile, PRINCE2 and the PMI Body of Knowledge. It also examines governance, ethics and sustainability, giving students a broad understanding of the frameworks that support successful and responsible project delivery.The course also emphasises the importance of data in project management. The Data-driven Project Management for Risks and Oversight module helps students learn to use historical and real-time data to forecast risks and improve oversight across the project lifecycle. Using tools like Primavera P6, students apply data analytics in practical contexts, enhancing decision-making and risk management skills. Strategic Leadership in Portfolio and program Management builds on this by exploring leadership theory and contrasting it with management, while connecting projects to wider organisational strategies and goals. It focuses on the role of leadership in aligning portfolios and programs with business objectives.In the Research and Insights for Decision Making module, students develop advanced research and consultancy skills. This helps prepare them to address real-world business problems through applied research and evidence-based recommendations. The course concludes with the Postgraduate Project, where students design and deliver an independent project such as a dissertation, consultancy report or business plan. This final module showcases their ability to integrate and apply their learning, drawing conclusions and offering strategic advice. Overall, the course prepares students to manage complex projects with confidence and professionalism.
