COURSE CURRICULUM

The Manufacturing and Production Engineering Management MSc is structured around a set of modules that integrate advanced manufacturing knowledge with management and innovation skills. Design for Sustainability focuses on developing environmentally responsible products and processes, emphasising sustainable materials, lifecycle thinking, and resource efficiency in manufacturing. Manufacturing Systems Analysis develops the ability to evaluate and optimise production systems, covering process modelling, capacity planning, and performance improvement techniques. Quality Systems and Technology examines quality management principles, standards, and technologies used to ensure consistency, reliability, and continuous improvement in manufacturing operations. The AI, Automation, Advanced Technologies, and Innovation module explores the application of artificial intelligence, automation, and emerging technologies in modern manufacturing, supporting innovation and smart factory development. The program also includes a Master’s with professional placement, offering valuable industry experience and the opportunity to apply academic learning in real-world manufacturing environments. The Dissertation provides students with the opportunity to undertake an independent, in-depth research or applied project in a chosen area of manufacturing or production engineering management, developing advanced analytical, research, and problem-solving skills while demonstrating the ability to deliver a substantial postgraduate-level piece of work relevant to contemporary manufacturing challenges.
