COURSE CURRICULUM

The postgraduate course in economics and finance is structured around six compulsory modules, each worth 30 credits, providing a well-rounded foundation in strategic, analytical, and ethical aspects of the field. The Economic Practices in Business Strategy module explores how core economic principles influence business strategies and management decisions. Through real-world case studies, students learn to apply economic analysis to strategic planning and understand how value creation and competitive advantage operate in complex market settings. Data Analysis and Research Methods equips students with essential quantitative research skills, covering statistical techniques, econometrics, and both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Emphasis is placed on interpreting global financial and economic data to support decision-making. The Corporate Finance and Risk Management module addresses vital issues such as capital structure, asset pricing, and financial risk, exploring how corporations navigate challenges in volatile regulatory, political, and economic environments. Governance, Ethics and Sustainability focuses on corporate responsibility, analysing governance frameworks and ethical decision-making using the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals as a lens. This module encourages students to balance business objectives with societal and environmental concerns, aiming to foster responsible leadership. International Trade and Economic Policy delves into the mechanics of global trade, including tariffs, subsidies, and economic integration, while also developing the ability to evaluate and influence economic policy on an international scale. Finally, the Postgraduate Project serves as a capstone, allowing students to independently research a topic of their choice within economics or finance. Under academic supervision, they refine their analytical and technical skills and contribute original insights to their chosen field.
