COURSE CURRICULUM

The Intelligent Transport Engineering MSc is structured around specialised modules that provide advanced technical knowledge for the development of connected and autonomous vehicle systems. CAV Cybersecurity, Verification and Validation focuses on protecting autonomous vehicle systems from cyber threats, while developing methods to verify and validate the safety, reliability, and performance of complex automated systems. CAV Safety and Human Factors examines the interaction between humans and automated vehicles, exploring driver behaviour, human–machine interfaces, and safety considerations critical to the acceptance and safe deployment of autonomous transport technologies. CAV Dynamics and Optimisation develops a deep understanding of vehicle dynamics, modelling, and optimisation techniques used to enhance vehicle stability, control, and efficiency. Powertrain Electrification and Thermal Management addresses the engineering principles behind electric and hybrid powertrains, including energy efficiency, thermal control, and sustainable vehicle design. The program also includes a Master’s with professional placement, offering valuable industry experience and the opportunity to apply academic learning in real-world automotive or transport engineering environments. The Individual Project allows students to undertake an independent, in-depth investigation into a chosen area of intelligent transport engineering, applying advanced technical and analytical skills to deliver a substantial postgraduate-level project aligned with current industry challenges and innovations.
