COURSE CURRICULUM

The Global Pharmaceutical and Biotech Management program provides a detailed and structured path for students looking to excel in the rapidly evolving pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. At PGCert level, the modules offer a solid foundation in the scientific principles of pharmacology and biotechnology through the Pharmacology, Biotechnology and Product Discovery module, giving insight into the global drug discovery pipeline, ethical challenges, regulatory systems, and product marketing. Students also explore innovation within the sector, particularly the unique contributions of SMEs and CROs, in the Pharmaceutical and Biotech Innovation module. Leadership and Management in the Life Sciences encourages personal development and team leadership, while Leading Strategic Change through Creativity and Innovation focuses on applying creativity to manage change effectively. Building on this, the PGDip extends the learning journey with added focus on economic strategies and resource management in the Economic and Resource Management for the Life Sciences module. This includes budgeting, team building and analysing global funding models. The Product Design, Clinical Trials and Evaluation module provides an in-depth understanding of trial regulations, development phases and clinical reporting, preparing students for complex regulatory environments. Product Commercialisation and Marketing introduces principles behind taking a product to market, considering trademarks, equity, and efficiency. At MSc level, all prior modules are retained, with the addition of two substantial capstone modules. The Professional Development Portfolio enables students to reflect on their learning journey, connect theory with practice, and develop a personalised professional growth strategy. The program culminates in the Business Case Project, a collaborative effort that synthesises knowledge and skills from across the course into a practical, industry-relevant proposal. The goal is to address a real-world issue within pharma or biotech sectors by proposing an innovative, impactful, and well-researched solution. This hands-on approach ensures graduates are equipped with critical, strategic, and leadership competencies demanded by the global life sciences industry.
