COURSE CURRICULUM

This course provides a thorough understanding of leadership, policy, and strategic management in the global healthcare sector. It includes five compulsory modules, each designed to build the knowledge and skills needed to tackle complex challenges in healthcare systems. The Global Health and Policy module focuses on the key drivers of globalization and how these impact health policy and sustainable healthcare systems. It examines the roles of international actors and the policy-making processes that shape global health outcomes. The Leadership within Healthcare Systems module is designed to develop personal leadership capabilities by studying leadership theories and their practical application in healthcare settings. It explores the challenges of workforce management, inter-professional collaboration, and effective service delivery. Strategic Healthcare Management teaches students the principles of healthcare operations, covering workforce and financial planning, risk management, and decision-making in healthcare interventions. Trends in Global Healthcare addresses contemporary healthcare issues, emphasizing the importance of ethical decision-making and evidence-based practice. This module helps students assess and integrate research into decision-making at various levels of healthcare systems. The course culminates with a 60-credit dissertation, where students will independently investigate a healthcare problem, develop a business case, and propose a service redesign or innovation. This project requires the evaluation of evidence, impact assessments, and the creation of sustainable solutions aimed at improving healthcare delivery. Together, these modules offer a comprehensive academic foundation for those aspiring to lead, manage, or reform healthcare systems worldwide, with an emphasis on strategic thinking, ethical practices, and innovative solutions.
