COURSE CURRICULUM

In the final stage of the BSc (Hons) Global Financial Planning course, students engage in a series of advanced modules that refine their expertise and prepare them for leadership roles in the financial sector. Special Topics in Finance delves into complex areas such as behavioural finance, mergers and acquisitions, and institutional finance, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world cases. This module explores human behavior in fund management and the strategic motives behind corporate mergers, providing a comprehensive understanding of these dynamic fields. Capital Markets and Security Analysis offers hands-on experience using industry-standard tools like Bloomberg and LSEG Workspace to analyze bonds and stocks. Students will develop proficiency in equity investment strategies, market timing, and stock-picking, preparing them for careers in investment analysis and portfolio management. The Data Analysis and Research Methods module strengthens students’ research skills, focusing on quantitative methods such as hypothesis testing and modelling, enabling them to make data-driven decisions. Corporate Finance and Risk Management critically examines key aspects of corporate finance, such as capital structure and risk management, from both theoretical and practical perspectives, with a focus on the global corporate landscape. Governance, Ethics and Sustainability explores the intersection of finance, ethics, and sustainability, encouraging students to consider the social and environmental impact of financial decisions. The United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework is used to help students understand the balance between shareholder interests and societal needs. Finally, the Postgraduate Project allows students to conduct independent research on a finance or economics topic, demonstrating their analytical and technical skills with personalized support from supervisors. This final year is designed to hone students' expertise and prepare them for impactful careers in finance.
