COURSE CURRICULUM

The University of Greenwich is a public university located in London and Kent, United Kingdom. It has campuses at the Old Royal Naval College and Avery Hill in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, as well as a shared campus in Medway, Kent. Offering a wide range of subjects, the university covers areas such as architecture, business, computing, mathematics, education, engineering, humanities, maritime studies, natural sciences, pharmacy, and social sciences. The institution dates back to 1890 with the establishment of Woolwich Polytechnic, the second-oldest polytechnic in the UK. Founded by Frank Didden and inspired by Quintin Hogg, it opened to students in 1891, initially combining education with social and religious elements. By 1894, its focus shifted toward higher technical education, catering to the local industries such as the Woolwich Dockyard and Royal Arsenal. Over the years, the institution expanded through a series of mergers, including Dartford College, Avery Hill College of Education, Garnett College, and parts of Goldsmiths College and the City of London College. In 1992, Thames Polytechnic gained university status and was renamed the University of Greenwich in 1993. The Thames College of Health Care Studies, itself a product of prior mergers, joined the university in the same year. The Natural Resources Institute, a former government research agency, was incorporated into the university in 1996. In 2001, the university relocated from its historic Woolwich campus to Greenwich. It partnered with Charlton Athletic F.C. in 2018. By early 2020, following worker strikes, the university agreed to provide outsourced staff with the London living wage and equal benefits. Academically, the university is organized into four faculties: Liberal Arts and Sciences, Business School, Education, Health & Human Sciences, and Engineering and Science, supported by professional service directorates that aid students and faculty operations.
