COURSE CURRICULUM

The course includes several modules that provide a comprehensive understanding of project delivery, management, and innovative technologies within the construction sector. The Building Information Modelling Foundation and Practice module (30 credits) aims to equip students with the skills to improve project delivery using BIM, covering interdisciplinary teamwork, collaborative design, and information flow management. Students will engage in scenario-based projects to demonstrate BIM standards, policies, and client interactions, preparing them for leadership roles in the technology-driven construction industry. The Project Management Principles module (30 credits) focuses on the relationships among organisational structures, financial principles, and construction contracts. Key topics include HR management, motivation, leadership, financial analysis, and decision-making, along with the selection and interpretation of construction contracts. The Strategic Management and Stakeholder Integration module (30 credits) enhances project management expertise, focusing on scope, time, cost, quality, risk management, and systems methodology. This module aims to equip students with the skills to manage real-world construction projects effectively. The Construction Innovation, Digitalisation, and Sustainability module (30 credits) explores innovative technologies, sustainability, and the role of artificial intelligence in project costing, delivery, and safety. Students will gain digital fluency and learn to reduce carbon emissions in construction. The Research Project (60 credits) allows students to design and conduct an independent research project in a technical area of their discipline. This module strengthens research skills, including problem identification, literature review, research design, data collection, and report writing, with guidance from academic staff. Through these modules, students will be well-prepared for leadership roles in the evolving construction industry.
