COURSE CURRICULUM

The course includes several essential modules designed to build a solid foundation in civil engineering, project management, and construction law. The Structural and Infrastructure Design module, worth 30 credits, focuses on the analysis, design, and maintenance of motorway bridges to UK standards. Students will gain expertise in applying experimental, theoretical, and computational methods to steel connections and composite structural members in line with the Eurocodes. They will also explore the theory of structural robustness and the stability of buildings. The Geotechnics and Materials module (30 credits) enhances technical skills in solving soil-structure interaction problems and teaches students to apply sustainable materials and emerging technologies like AI, BIM, and 3D concrete printing. Students will learn to conduct life cycle and carbon assessments for infrastructure projects and benefit from advanced software and lab equipment to support their learning. The Strategic Management and Stakeholder Integration module (30 credits) develops project management expertise by exploring key areas such as scope, time, cost, quality, and risk management. It combines theoretical knowledge with practical application in a fast-paced construction sector. The Construction Law and Contract Practice Procedures module (30 credits) equips students with essential skills for understanding and managing contracts. They will explore critical thinking around contract formation, award, and administration, with hands-on experience through problem-based learning and role-play simulations. These modules provide a comprehensive education that prepares students for the complexities of modern civil engineering and construction projects.
