COURSE CURRICULUM
This master’s program in psychology provides a comprehensive and practical understanding of key psychological disciplines, integrating theoretical knowledge with real-world applications across diverse contexts. In the Clinical Psychology module, you’ll explore the relationship between psychological theory and mental health practice, learning to apply models and approaches to real case studies. This includes designing your own case formulation based on an individual’s background and challenges. Counselling, Coaching and Mentoring shifts focus toward interpersonal relationships, helping you develop practical skills in active listening, empathy, goal-setting and problem-solving through the lens of psychological principles. You’ll gain experience in applying these methods to individuals and groups across varied settings. Developmental and Educational Psychology takes a life-span approach to psychological development, exploring early childhood through to older adulthood, with a strong emphasis on contemporary influences such as technology and cultural diversity. You’ll also look at neurodevelopmental disorders, educational assessments and the impact of policy on developmental outcomes. In Psychology of Global Politics and Media, you’ll analyse how psychological mechanisms like bias, prejudice and morality influence political behaviours and public opinion, especially during unrest. The module offers insight into the media’s impact on both group and individual decision-making. Applied Research and Technological Innovations encourages you to design psychological interventions using research-driven and technology-enhanced solutions. You’ll learn to apply these innovations creatively, using tools like apps, virtual reality, or public campaigns. Wellbeing and the Global Workplace rounds out the program with a focus on how diversity, inclusion, team dynamics and technological change affect employee wellbeing across cultures and industries. Optional professional placement offers the chance to integrate theory into a live workplace environment, with support provided to secure placement during the first semester. This allows for real-world application of knowledge and professional growth. The program overall equips you with the critical, practical and research skills needed for diverse careers in applied psychology.
