COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Immersive Media focuses on creating innovative and interactive experiences through cutting-edge technologies like Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). In the first module, Immersive Storytelling and Interactive Experiences, students explore new narrative possibilities beyond traditional media by working with VR and AR tools. Building on this foundation, the VR/AR for Industry module enables students to develop immersive experiences for real-world applications in sectors such as architecture, healthcare, media production, and cultural heritage. The Virtual Character and World Building module introduces students to virtual production techniques, where they learn about real-time rendering, camera tracking, and motion capture software to create lifelike virtual environments and characters. Collaboration is a key focus in the Collaborative Technologies module, which emphasizes teamwork across disciplines to produce live and pre-recorded content using high-end production equipment. In the Professional Practice and Innovation module, students explore the relationship between the independent and commercial sectors of the creative industries, gaining practical experience and a digital credential from the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) upon completion. Finally, the Creative Frontiers Project provides students with the opportunity to work independently, developing a research-based project that explores the latest issues and innovations within their chosen area of interest, pushing the boundaries of contemporary practice in the creative industries. This comprehensive course equips students with the skills and experience necessary to excel in the rapidly evolving immersive media landscape.
