The Sports Journalism course offers a comprehensive understanding of the sports media landscape, equipping students with the necessary skills for audio, video, and written content creation across various platforms. The course starts with modules such as Sport Audio, Video and Broadcast programs, where students develop technical expertise in audio and video journalism, working on live projects under mentorship. Reporting on Sport, Celebrity and Health delves into the relationship between sport, celebrity culture, and media, exploring the role of public relations, social media, and scandal in shaping public perception of athletes. Students also gain practical skills in Audio/Video Production, focusing on creating content for social media, online platforms, and traditional media like radio and television. Specialist Practice in Journalism and PR allows students to deepen their knowledge in a specific field, developing advanced content creation and professional reflection skills. The Magazine Production module teaches the essentials of producing magazine content, both in print and online, emphasizing project management, production techniques, and the use of key software. The Sports Governance and Covering Global Events module explores the governance of sport and its societal impacts, preparing students to create content on the political, social, and cultural influence of sports. Legal and ethical frameworks in journalism are also covered here. Finally, the Creative Futures and Social Change module helps students adapt to the rapidly evolving world of work, providing tools to navigate new career paths in the arts and humanities and to contribute to social change.
