COURSE CURRICULUM

This postgraduate program offers a forward-thinking and collaborative approach to design, focusing on innovation, sustainability and real-world impact. It begins with the Co-Create module, where students work in multidisciplinary teams on live or simulated briefs set by industry partners. This module develops essential professional skills such as collaboration, delegation, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence, encouraging students to work across disciplines and contribute their expertise to broader creative projects. Alongside this, the Professional Practice and Innovation module introduces students to the complex ecosystems of the creative industries, highlighting the interrelationships between the independent, commercial and public sectors. Developed in partnership with the RSA, the module includes a 12-month fellowship and concludes with an RSA-accredited digital credential, adding an extra layer of professional recognition and access to a wide network of resources. The Imagination for Better Futures module is driven by global challenges such as climate change, resource management and social equity. Students are encouraged to apply systems and design thinking to explore sustainable solutions, cultivating their ability to develop innovative, practical responses to complex problems. In Decoding New Technologies for Society, the program dives into the human-centred application of emerging technologies. Students develop empathy-driven design approaches, grounded in the physiological and psychological needs of diverse users and aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. This module also provides hands-on experience through live briefs and collaborations with community organisations, enabling students to apply their knowledge in real contexts.The final part of the program is the Major Project: Future Vision. This 60-credit capstone project allows students to define a personal area of interest and develop a detailed, research-led design solution that becomes the centrepiece of their professional portfolio. Emphasising future visioning, circular design, stakeholder engagement and technical communication, the project prepares students for entry into industry, research or entrepreneurship, supporting a seamless transition into their next professional chapter.
