COURSE CURRICULUM

The postgraduate course in creative practice offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to enhance both the technical and professional skills necessary for success in the creative industries. The first module, Paper, Pixel, Light, Pigment, introduces students to advanced tools, technologies, and techniques that challenge their existing methods, encouraging them to refine their creative practices and develop future-focused interventions. In the Co-Create module, students collaborate on real-life or simulated projects with industry experts and students from other postgraduate disciplines. This collaborative approach fosters skills in project management, delegation, and problem-solving while emphasizing flexibility, emotional intelligence, and community building. Present and Publish focuses on enhancing students' ability to present and publish their work. Students experiment with strategies to bring their photographic work to life beyond the university, learning how to translate images into impactful experiences using tools like Adobe Creative Suite and university resources, including access to specialized photographic collections. Professional Practice and Innovation explores the interconnections between different sectors within the creative industries, with a specific collaboration with The Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA), offering a unique 12-month fellowship. Students gain access to RSA resources and platforms, building professional development and gaining a digital credential upon completion. Finally, the Making and Making Public: Final Project allows students to produce a body of work aligned with their personal goals, supported by critical reflection on the relevance and merit of their practice. This project-based module encourages students to apply their acquired skills to create high-quality work for presentation in the professional world.
