COURSE CURRICULUM

The Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution MA is structured around a comprehensive set of modules that provide practical, analytical, and policy-focused understanding of international affairs. Global Affairs in Action introduces real-world approaches to global governance and international problem-solving, encouraging students to apply theory to contemporary global challenges. Diplomacy and Human Rights explores the relationship between diplomatic practice and the protection of human rights, examining international law, institutions, and responses to humanitarian crises. Security, Warfare and Rebellion focuses on the causes and consequences of conflict, analysing warfare, insurgency, and security dynamics through critical case studies. Managing International Affairs develops skills in policy-making, negotiation, and leadership, preparing students to operate effectively within international organisations and diplomatic environments. The Resilience, Extremism and Populism module examines the rise of extremist and populist movements, their impact on global stability, and strategies used to build social and political resilience. Fighting Injustice in the International System challenges students to critically assess inequality, power, and injustice in global governance, while exploring ethical and practical approaches to promoting fairness and accountability. Together, these modules equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue careers in diplomacy, conflict resolution, policy analysis, and international relations.
