COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB Law degree provides a comprehensive approach to the study of law, offering a common first year for all students to develop essential legal skills and knowledge. In the first year, students are introduced to key areas such as the English Legal System, Public Law, Contract Law, Criminal Law, and Contemporary Issues in Law. These modules provide a foundational understanding of legal processes, constitutional law, and the impact of modern social changes on legal systems. The Applied Law Study module encourages collaborative work to tackle real-world legal challenges, while the Contemporary Issues in Law module helps students explore emerging topics in law.In the second year, the focus shifts to further developing core legal knowledge and practical skills. Modules like Rights, Justice and the State, Tort Law, and Land Law deepen students' understanding of legal rights, civil liability, and property law. Practical Legal Skills equips students with essential skills in advocacy, negotiation, and drafting. The Equity and Trusts module explores the creation and operation of trusts in modern society, while European Union Law highlights the ongoing relevance of EU law despite the UK’s withdrawal.In the final year, students have the opportunity to specialise and refine their legal expertise. The Project module allows students to conduct in-depth research or participate in work-based projects, including placements at the Coventry Law Centre. Client Care and Professional Ethics prepares students for professional practice, and the Law of Evidence module provides a detailed exploration of how evidence is used in criminal trials. These modules, along with optional specialisations, ensure graduates are ready for the legal profession or further academic study.
