COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB (Hons) Law and Practice degree is a practical, skills-based course designed to prepare students for the realities of working in legal practice. In Year 1, students build foundational knowledge of the English legal system, including key areas such as public law, contract law, and criminal law. Students learn how to apply legal principles to real-world situations and are introduced to core legal skills such as mooting and dispute resolution. Successful completion of the first year leads to a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Law.Year 2 focuses on enhancing practical legal skills and deepening understanding of key legal areas. Modules include tort law, property law, and trusts, with an emphasis on legal analysis, problem-solving, and providing professional legal advice. The legal research project helps students apply their skills to real issues and prepare for future professional roles. On completing this stage, students are awarded a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Law.The final year prepares students for the legal profession with a strong focus on client care, litigation, and advocacy. Students study civil and criminal practice, gaining insight into running a client file from interview through to trial. They also explore EU law and its influence on domestic law. Emphasis is placed on professional conduct, legal ethics, and collaborative working. This final year develops the confidence and competence needed for legal practice, including drafting legal documents and handling client communications. Upon successful completion, students are awarded the LLB (Hons) Law and Practice degree.
