COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year, the focus is on developing foundational skills in music production, songwriting, and audio techniques. The curriculum covers key areas such as introduction to music production and songwriting, where you learn the basics of using Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), music theory, and songwriting fundamentals. Music and sound-making builds on production skills, while music, culture, and context explores the social, political, and historical aspects of popular music. Global music marketplace introduces how to network, promote, and market music using digital platforms and social media. Studio music allows hands-on experience in creating and reflecting on music projects, and live music focuses on rehearsing and managing live sound setups for performances.In the second year, the course becomes more specialized, with an emphasis on sound design, game audio, and mixing. Students develop technical proficiency, professional skills, and global awareness. Modules include sound design and FX, where you learn sound synthesis and sampling techniques, and game audio, which focuses on creating and producing sound for video games. Sound craft – mixing and mastering teaches advanced skills in mixing and mastering music using DAWs and studio resources. Music and the moving image explores the relationship between sound and visuals in films and games. Creative coding introduces students to coding for digital art and interactive music, while creative collaboration involves working on projects with students from different disciplines or industry professionals.In the final year, the focus shifts to refining skills and preparing for professional careers. Students delve deeper into advanced music production, creative coding, and spatial audio techniques. The major project allows students to work on an independent, in-depth project such as original music composition or music for media, showcasing their skills and preparing them for the industry. The final year aims to make students job-ready with a well-rounded skill set in music production and related fields.
