COURSE CURRICULUM

This Computer Science course begins with a shared first year across related degrees, including Computer Science with AI, Interactive Media and Web Technologies, and Software Engineering. This collaborative structure allows you to explore core computing principles while working alongside peers in similar disciplines. You’ll also have the flexibility to switch courses within the shared framework, depending on your interests and academicprogress.Inn Year 1, you’ll build a strong foundation in programming, algorithms, computer systems, and mathematics. You’ll explore data handling and ethical considerations in technology, develop skills in object-oriented programming, and apply your learning through a team-based Integrative Project.Year 2 focuses on applying your technical skills in real-world contexts. You’ll study data science tools like Python or R and apply them to business problems. Modules in web development, operational research, and digital marketing prepare you for designing interactive systems and solving complex challenges. You'll also explore business environments and learn how IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) principles guide service management in large organisations.In your final year, you’ll tailor your studies to your professional interests. The two-part Final Year Project allows you to research, design, and build a solution to a specific computing problem, while considering ethical and societal impacts. You’ll also gain essential project management skills and learn how IT strategy aligns with broader business goals through the IT and Society module.By graduation, you'll be equipped with technical knowledge, collaborative experience, and a practical understanding of computing in business. This course prepares you for a range of careers in software development, IT consultancy, data analysis, or digital solutions management, with the added ability to adapt to the ever-changing tech landscape.
