COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Global Financial Planning course provides a solid foundation in finance, economics, and business, with a particular focus on preparing students for careers in financial planning and advisory roles. In the first year, students share a common curriculum with related finance and economics degrees, encouraging collaboration and a broader understanding of the financial world. Core subjects such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, mathematics and statistics, principles of finance, and business accounting provide the analytical tools and theoretical knowledge necessary for deeper learning in subsequent years. The Entrepreneurial Thinking module adds a practical dimension by encouraging self-awareness, creativity, and responsible business practices. In the second year, the curriculum builds on the fundamentals by delving into specialised areas such as financial services, derivatives, and financial regulation. Students are introduced to econometrics and data analysis, equipping them with quantitative skills that are crucial for analysing financial trends and making informed decisions. Modules like Financial Regulation and Economics of Banking and Finance develop a deeper understanding of the financial system, compliance structures, and the critical role of institutions in the global economy. The Designing a Research Proposal module allows students to begin formulating research questions on global or industry-specific challenges. The final year brings everything together by refining students’ strategic thinking and practical financial skills. The 40-credit Project module allows students to undertake independent research in a specific area of interest with academic supervision. Portfolio Management and Investment and Risk Analysis modules provide advanced tools for constructing and evaluating investment portfolios. Finally, the Sustainable Finance module explores how financial decisions intersect with global ESG considerations, preparing students to contribute responsibly to the industry. This course equips graduates with both the technical expertise and ethical awareness needed to thrive in today’s dynamic financial planning landscape.
