COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) in Cyber Security is a focused, technically-driven degree designed to prepare students for a career in one of the most critical and fast-evolving areas of computing. In year one, students are introduced to the fundamental principles of computing science, including programming, operating systems, networking, and the foundational concepts of information security. These core modules combine theory with hands-on practical experience to help students understand the key components of computer systems and how to secure them.In the second year, the course shifts toward more specialised cyber security content. Students explore the principles of cryptography and computer forensics, alongside deepening their understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming. This year is also designed to enhance professional and collaborative skills, helping students prepare for industry-based challenges and real-world teamwork environments.The final year builds on this foundation by exploring advanced topics such as secure programming and the Internet of Things, with a focus on risk analysis and system vulnerabilities. Students also investigate broader contemporary computing issues from ethical, legal and societal perspectives. The final individual project allows them to apply their skills in a specialised area of cyber security, showcasing their technical knowledge, research ability and practical problem-solving skills.
