COURSE CURRICULUM

Year 1 introduces the foundational concepts of computing science, focusing on IT security, programming, and problem-solving skills. It includes practical learning to combine theory with hands-on experience. Students who successfully complete this year are eligible for a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Computing Science. Modules include Networking, Operating Systems, Information Security, and Problem Solving and Programming, all essential for building a strong understanding of computer systems, security risks, and programming languages like Python.Year 2 builds on the knowledge from Year 1, with a focus on advanced topics like cryptography, digital forensics, and algorithms. This year emphasizes the development of object-oriented analysis, design, and implementation skills. Students will refine their employability skills in preparation for a career in cyber security, culminating in the award of a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Cyber Security. Key modules include Cryptography, Computer Forensics, Algorithms and Data Structures, and Communications and Collaboration, focusing on both technical skills and teamwork.In the final year, students tackle complex subjects like the Internet of Things (IoT) and secure programming. They learn about the risks associated with software exploitation and how to mitigate security threats. The final year culminates in a project where students can focus on areas of interest within cyber security. Successful completion of the course leads to a BSc (Hons) degree in Cyber Security. Modules include Secure Programming, IoT, Contemporary Issues in Computing, and a Project, allowing students to demonstrate research, design, and practical problem-solving skills.
