COURSE CURRICULUM

The course is structured to provide students with a comprehensive education in construction management, divided into three stages: the common first year, the second year, and the final year. In the common first year, students are introduced to foundational topics such as resource management, economics, design, and production processes. Students have the opportunity to collaborate with peers from related fields, broadening their understanding and exposure to other areas of construction. This year also provides flexibility, allowing students to switch to other related degrees if desired and if they meet the necessary progression requirements. The modules in the first year cover key topics like materials and building surveying, construction technology, spatial design, professional skills development, and sustainable environments, laying a strong foundation for further study. The second year delves deeper into the construction management profession, exploring modern practices such as building information modeling (BIM), virtual reality, and advanced technologies. Modules such as construction technology, procurement and supply chain management, construction operations, and project finance offer students a more detailed understanding of the industry's technical, legal, and financial aspects. Students are also introduced to sustainable construction practices and how the industry can contribute to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.In the final year, students gain practical experience and further develop their skills in areas like contract administration, strategic construction project management, and innovative project management in practice. They work on interdisciplinary projects and case studies, preparing them for professional roles in construction management. The final year also includes a research dissertation, enabling students to conduct in-depth research into topics relevant to the construction industry. This stage aims to refine students' project management skills, enhance their leadership abilities, and ensure they are ready for the demands of the industry upon graduation.
