COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computing Science degree provides a comprehensive introduction to key technologies and principles in the field, preparing students for a range of careers in the tech industry. In the first year, students are introduced to the fundamentals of IT security, computer systems, and programming. Key modules include networking, operating systems, information security, and problem-solving with programming. The focus is on developing practical skills through hands-on learning, ensuring students gain a solid foundation in both theory and practice. By the end of the year, students are eligible for a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Computing Science.The second year builds on this knowledge with more advanced topics. Students will deepen their understanding of computer hardware, web development, algorithms, and data structures. They will also explore human-computer interaction, the design of communication systems, and web applications. The importance of data security is further emphasized, and students will gain collaborative skills in preparation for the final-year project. Successful completion of the second year leads to a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computing Science.In the final year, students focus on advanced topics such as big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), and contemporary issues in computing. They will gain technical skills in big data analytics and explore the security and privacy implications of IoT technologies. The year culminates in a project where students apply their learning to a specific area of interest, demonstrating research, problem-solving, and technical skills. The final-year project allows students to showcase their abilities and prepares them for careers in various computing sectors, including data science, software engineering, and cybersecurity.
