COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year, the curriculum provides a broad foundation in computing, offering core modules that cover programming, systems, data management, and the mathematics underlying computing. Students are introduced to programming fundamentals, algorithms, computer systems, and operating systems, laying the groundwork for future studies. They also explore data handling, storage, and management, alongside key mathematical principles that support algorithm design. The first year concludes with a practical project that encourages teamwork and the application of learned concepts. In the second year, the focus shifts to more advanced topics such as artificial intelligence, advanced algorithms, operating systems, and data science. Students explore AI concepts like machine learning, knowledge representation, and reasoning, while also delving into the theory of computation, formal languages, and computability. The module on advanced algorithms builds on prior knowledge and enhances problem-solving techniques using sophisticated data structures. Security, network protocols, and OS architecture are also covered, providing crucial insights into real-world computing systems. Additionally, the second year includes data science, where students apply predictive modeling, data wrangling, and visualization techniques to large datasets. In the final year, students specialize in machine learning, security, and project management. The security module focuses on creating secure systems and understanding related legal and ethical concerns. The machine learning module extends previous AI knowledge, exploring supervised and unsupervised learning and neural networks. The year culminates in a self-driven project, where students define and manage a substantial project of their choosing, leading to a dissertation and a project artefact. This final phase allows students to apply everything they’ve learned in a comprehensive and practical way, preparing them for professional work or further academic study.
