COURSE CURRICULUM

The first year of this Electrical and Electronic Engineering course is designed to provide students with a broad foundation in engineering, alongside their peers in related disciplines. The common first-year curriculum allows students to explore a variety of subjects while building fundamental skills in electrical and electronic engineering, design, and programming. Key modules include Engineering Mathematics, Electrical and Electronic Engineering Principles, Engineering Design, and Introduction to Programming. These modules help students develop mathematical, technical, and problem-solving skills that are essential for their studies and future careers.In the second year, students delve deeper into more advanced topics in electronics and system design, including Analogue and Digital Systems, Object-Oriented Programming, and Operating Systems, Security, and Networks. These modules build on the knowledge gained in the first year and introduce more specialized subjects such as embedded system design, circuit board manufacturing, and the basics of communication and networking.The final year focuses on applying and refining these skills through project-based learning. Modules like Security, Hardware Realisation of a Computer System, and System on Chip Design offer hands-on experience in designing and implementing complex systems, with a focus on security and hardware development. Students also undertake an Individual/Group-based Project, which allows them to apply their learning to a substantial project, either individually or in teams, under the guidance of a supervisor. This final year prepares students for professional work in the industry or further study in advanced areas like machine learning and security.By the end of the course, students will have gained in-depth knowledge and practical experience in both hardware and software design, making them well-equipped for careers in electrical engineering, embedded systems, communications, or security.
